Lou K Psychotherapy

Welcome

I hope you find the information you need about the therapy services I offer.

Counselling & psychotherapy provide a place to explore feelings, personal problems, issues, dilemmas and choices in a safe, confidential space, with the aim of nurturing self-awareness, insight and healing.

I can offer help with individual counselling or psychotherapy across a range of experiences including addiction or dependency, depression & anxiety, PTSD/CPTSD & trauma, abuse & abusive situations, self-esteem & self-confidence, LGBTQIA+ & identify exploration, loss & bereavement, including pet loss. I use an integrative relational approach.

In the sessions we can explore your reasons for seeking therapy, how these experiences have been for you & where they have shown up in your life. The space is for you to get to know your inner self, to heal & grow, no matter what life experiences you may have had. It’s time to feel better and move forward.

I offer short- & long-term counselling & psychotherapy online. My private practice is mostly on Fridays, although I may be available at other times, including weekday evenings. I do not keep client material online and I am GDPR compliant. My fees maybe negotiable. Individual sessions are £55.

How I work

Counselling & psychotherapy helps people to address conscious & unconscious issues. My practice is centred in two core values; people are ok and we exist within relationships.

I work in an integrated relational way. This means I believe our earliest relationships deeply influence our ways of thinking, feeling & behaving and until we develop more self-awareness, we are unconscious of this process. We can explore and navigate your internal world together, co-creating a therapeutic space providing insight into how you see yourself.

Relationships are central to being human. Difficulties and challenges we experience can be understood as survival strategies learnt when young or as a response as an adult. Understanding these negative patterns via the therapy process can helps us consciously choose a more positive approach to life and how we relate. I draw on a range of approaches to prioritise a safe & secure therapeutic relationship enabling open exploration & trust.

Short-term counselling may be useful for a specific problem or life event such as a relationship breakdown or bereavement. Psychotherapy maybe the preferred option for difficulties that are long term or seem more complex. This is usually open-ended, exploring many different aspects of life.
